How big is the American Girl doll - I want to buy some doll clothes but not sure if they will fit other dolls?

I see a lot of American Girl doll clothes for sale on ebay, which is where I often shop, is this an average sized doll? Or if I buy clothes for this doll, will they not fit the other dolls we have here?|||American Girl dolls are 18 inches tall and most 18 inch doll clothes will fit them.|||The dolls are 18", and I have heard that they are a little more "pudgy" than other 18" dolls. American girl doll clothes are very well made and durable for play. They also fit Madame alexander or any other 18" dolls. I would compare prices with the actual website American Girl before you purchase any on ebay just to make sure you are getting a good deal. Some of the ebay sellers really mark things up. Also, you can find some really good deals in your area if you are willing to arrange looking at the clothes and pickup on Craig's List, which is now called searchtempest.
