What is the best way to get rid of a Voodoo doll?

My girlfriend just realized that one of the dolls in her doll collection from childhood, is a Voodoo doll.

Her dad bought it for her on a trip to Louisiana in 1977.|||Why get rid of it as it is no more than a superstition? Besides it is not a real voodoo doll, simply one that is marketed as being one as a novelty to take the money of tourists.

L8r|||There is no need to dispose of it. Louisiana Voodoo dolls are made for specific people - they are not a problem for anyone else. Personally, I would keep it just for the novelty of the thing.

But if you must dispose of it, the "proper" method is to throw it into running water. Alternate methods are to throw it over your shoulder into the middle of a crossroads or bury it in a jar packed with pot ash and salt. You can burn it, but you have to dispose of the ashes by one of the methods described above.

Also, keep in mind that the tradition idea of the Voodoo doll is unique to New Orleans Voodoo. If the doll is of Haitian or West African origin then it was made to serve a completely different purpose.|||Voodoo dolls only work (if you believe in that kind of stuff) if they have a personal item of the person that you are casting a spell on attached to them.

You need to remove the personal item and then burn the doll. Burning the doll while the personal item is there could cause the person to be burned if the doll is an actual working doll.

It's probably just a piece of tourist junk, not an actual voodoo doll. You can safely throw it in the bin if that is the case.|||I think you should love it all the same, its not fair to reject it cos its from another religion or its different from you, its not its fualt its not a voodoo doll.

Put it on a big chair and tell it your willing to keep it on the condition its not a bad doll or stops being a "voodoo" doll and is not just a doll...or give it to a "voodoo person" else its a waste of a perfectly good piece of art/voodoo|||According to the shamans of Peru DO NOT Burn it. Someone must take it from you. You could try leaving on the bus seat or in the park hoping someone will pick it up, but you must stay close - can't just abandon it. You can also reverse the spell ( send it back to the originator) . This involves taking the doll to a real shaman or voodoo practitioner.|||Ohh I hate those devil dolls lol! I know someone with one he stuck a pin in it about someone and he never came back to school, what i would do it rip it's head off and burn every part of it lmao or just throw it in the bin but it's not as fun as burning it 8) do me a favour don't listen to redwitch for fk sake it's just a doll WHY WOUKD U GO ALL THE WAY YO LOUISIANA TO BRING BACK A FKN DOLL they probably won't accept it since it was from 1977!!|||So? Her dad bought it for her on a trip? What's the harm there? It's not like it's an animate object. This is not a horror movie, it's not going to come to life. It has no inherent power. It's a tourist trinket. No big deal.

If you are really worried about it, Bind it in red thread or yard, then bury it somewhere off of your property.|||Throw it in the trash can.

Ask Jesus to be your God and Saviour. Be under His Lordship and His covering and protection. As you grow in the Lord and read the Holy Bible you will realize that material items, even items sacrified to idols, have NO power over you. Superstition and Fables are of no affect.|||DO NOT BURN IT! If this happens to be an actual Voodoo Doll, then the person it affects will feel the warm of the fire. The best thing to do would be to bury it 6 feet under ground. Keep it safe, put it in a shoebox.|||you have to burn the voodo doll where you bought it.

cuz evil spirits are contained in the doll and must be properly burned at their original location.|||easy.

get on a city bus.

place the doll in the aisle..

learn over it and defecate on it's torso.

this should dispell any dark magic from the doll.|||how does she know its a real voodoo doll anyway they dont exist|||Voodoo dolls aren't real|||not saying i believe is voodoo dolls... but wouldn't burining it burn the other person?|||It's just a doll, throw it in the trash or something if you're worried it's magic.|||yes|||Burn it?|||burn it|||just throw it out?|||burn it.|||set it free.lol
