What is the best kind of ball jointed doll?

Im looking at them and some are plastic others arent. Im not really sure what would be the best, Does anyone know what kind would be better? Im looking at some in Volks, they seem pretty good. Im looking at the ones where you buy the body and they the eyes etc. Anyway, Anyone know the best kind and where they are cheaper? Or if I can make one?
