How did having a doll as a child contribute to your development?

As a child most people had a doll that they kept with them or a blanket, how do you feel it contributed to your development as a child, and how old were you?|||I did not have a doll or blankie growing up, so it did not contribute to my development.|||I had American girl dolls. They were amazing, I played with them from when I was 7 until about 12. My dolls were great for developing my imagination and they taught me how to take care of things. Seeing as they are $100 dolls, my mom made it very clear that if I didn't take care of it, I would have to pay for the replacement. Their books also taught me TONS about American history and culture, without me even realizing it! There are a lot of historical facts I know today that I remember from the books. Now I'm 15, and even though I don't play with them anymore, I collect. And I proudly display my collection in my room :)|||I learned not to name it after my younger sister.

I got mad at the doll one day and yelled at it and my younger sister (she was all of 3 at the time I think) thought I was yelling at her and got upset and I got in major trouble with my parents.|||Well, it made high school awkward. http://www.hiyoooo.com/ !!!
