What materials would be good to use when making doll houses?

I want to start selling wooden doll houses online, making everything handmade. What kind of wood should I use? What can I make items such as furniture, food, etc items with?|||If these are intended for kids, and you're in the US or intend to sell in the US, don't go any farther until you've read about the new CPSIA regs (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act). These affect ALL products intended for use by children under the age of 12. The link I'm going to give you is specifically for small clothing manufacturers, but there are links from there to the handmade toy alliance, etc.





At the moment, the regs are essentially that all products are guilty until proven innocent by some fairly expensive lab tests, in certified labs. and a large new chunk of the law goes into effect 10 Feb 2009. This is a law with some big sharp teeth, so I urge you read things carefully.
