I saw some documentary the other day about cheap labour in China and how toy companies use it so im wondering how much the dolls actually cost to manufacture and get to the shop overall. How much does it cost to make the doll and it's clothes, labour costs, packaging and transportation overall? When I say dolls I mean ones like Barbie and Bratz. Thanks!|||companies never release information regarding costs of production but you can always have a guess.
barbie and bratz are your A-list products, by that i mean they are market leaders so the mark-up on them is pretty high. so if we say a barbie sells for $20. i looked it up because, i am proud that i dont know that bit of information.
my guess is you would be looking at around $1 to make, if you disagree with me, open her up, find out what plastic she is made of and look in like the plastic stock exchange for how much you pay per tonne (pellet form, because the legs, arms etc.. will be injection moulded and you need the plastic in pellet form)
i reckon logistics would be $1 all the way from china (this is per unit guess)
lets not forget, marketing (advertising and looking at where the market and interest of girls is moving too) and other bits and pieces
my guess is you would look at about $3, total. and i feel like i am over estimating. yes the mark up on such products is fantastic. if you disagree, i heard that gilette mach3 has something like a 400% mark up on their shaver.|||can be anything i would assume it would cost more than other dolls because you can get dolls like that in poundland and the manufacture has to make and then sell to poundland and make a profit and if poundland sell for just a pound i wonder how much profit that person has make
